What is your background?
Educationally, I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design from Auburn University, as well as a minor in business marketing with an overall focus in electronic media. I have been semi-actively pursuing my MBA from the University of Mississippi over the past two and a half years, and I hope to continue this here in Florida at some point in the future.
During college, I worked as a graphic designer for an environmental software engineering firm creating any and all graphics, layouts and packaging for software. After college, I worked for a IT staffing firm filling numerous short-term contract positions for anything from web design and development to marketing campaigns and event management. Most currently, I was employed by VSS, an IBM Premier Business Partner, Microsoft Gold Partner, and SAP Service Partner, as a Marketing Communication Specialist (later changed to Creative Director). I managed all graphics, marketing, web sites, intranets, extranets… absolutely anything that would face a customer, I had a hand in (maybe two hands).
What trait did you inherit from your mom or dad?
Without a doubt, I feel as if I'm more and more like my mom every day with my reminders, calendars, notes, and to-do lists. I always admired my mom’s ability to multi-task, and I now realize how it was all possible… lots and lots of hints and reminders. So, from my mom… organizational skills, most definitely.
Biggest challenge in your job?
Convincing the client that they are not always right… and that I am the designer, that’s why they hired me. I cannot stand a ruined design layout, because the client wants to adds some animation (in the form of old school text fades or rainbow color schemes) or a big picture of himself on the homepage.
